Long, soft and unfastened. The suede falls past the knee from a draped lapel collar with nothing down the front to close, so the belt holds whatever shape there is, and it comes off entirely when the preferred line is a straight drape. Five colourways run from black and dark brown through camel, khaki and greige, and the whole thing is cut oversized on purpose.

Removable belt, open front

There are no buttons anywhere. Cinched, the belt draws the coat in at the waist and the skirt swings out from there; unbelted, or with the belt taken off altogether, it hangs in two long panels. Both readings are intended, and the second is the easier one over a bulky sweater.

Oversized over layers

The cut is loose by intention, with room to go over knitwear or a second jacket, and the below-knee hem gives coverage a hip-length coat cannot. On a smaller frame the volume is the point of the garment; this is not a coat that will look fitted at any size.

Four browns and a black

Camel, khaki, greige and dark brown cover most of the autumn neutral range, with black for the version that needs to stay plain. A suede surface handles colour differently from a woven coat: the nap catches light, so a mid brown gains depth in the folds.

Fit, honestly
